Ever wonder about playing college tennis, or what it's all about?

I believe college tennis is certainly right up there among the most fascinating and rewarding parts of the game. Whereas this is a predominantly individual game, the school aspect gives you the opportunity to compete on a team and learn to handle the pressure and enjoy the camaraderie of your team mates.

I have played at the NCAA Division 2 level, as well as NCAA Division 3. The first school I played at was Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC, and the second one was Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA.

Many good young players, who feel that they might have a chance at the professional level, sometimes jump straight into the pros without first considering the college route. Being from South Africa, I realize how true this is, especially for international players. Choosing between an education and a professional career is an age-old choice for a top-ranked junior player, and many don't realize that there is the third option.
